Regional enablers from across Queensland came together at James Cook University’s (JCU) Ideas Lab in Cairns for a day of collaboration, inspiration, and cutting-edge technology as part of the Regional Enablers Program (REP). The event, designed to foster innovation and strengthen connections across the state, brought together key stakeholders to share ideas, explore opportunities, and celebrate regional achievements on 22 June.

The highlight of the day was a tour of the JCU CAVE (Computer Assisted Virtual Environment), a state-of-the-art facility that offers immersive virtual experiences. Participants were given a first-hand look at how this groundbreaking technology is being used to transform research, education, and industry. From virtual simulations to interactive 3D environments, the JCU CAVE demonstrated the incredible potential of technology to solve real-world challenges and drive regional development.

Throughout the day, attendees engaged in presentations, fireside chats and interactive networking sessions, all aimed at empowering regional leaders to create meaningful change in their communities. The program featured inspiring talks from REP providers, who shared success stories and practical strategies for fostering innovation in regional Queensland.

As the day concluded, participants left with new connections, fresh ideas, and a renewed commitment to supporting regional growth and innovation. Events like these are a testament to the incredible potential of Queensland’s regional innovation ecosystem and the people who drive it forward.
