We want more Queensland innovation and research to translate into commercial success, and more innovative businesses to access the investment, talent, supply chains, and markets they need to start, stay, and thrive here.

Working alongside commercialisation units in Queensland’s universities and institutes, an Office of Commercialisation will provide leadership and coordination, connecting programs, institutions and investors so researchers, industry, founders and innovative businesses can more easily access support. This will strengthen the commercialisation pathway from early-stage IP and pre-seed funding through to co-investment, market access, and scale up and address fragmented pathways, uneven regional access, and limited scale up opportunities.

Aligning with national priorities and supporting research–industry partnerships will help attract more competitive R&D funding and co-investment from private and international sources, focusing on areas where Queensland can build sovereign capability and attract investment.

Government will also act as an early customer, using procurement, pilots and innovation challenges to help businesses test and scale solutions, including in rural and regional Queensland. The 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games also present an opportunity to showcase Queensland innovation, open new market pathways, and build partnerships.
