CEO & Co-founder: Leigh Kelson
Business: Zone Blue Pty Ltd (Kitt AI)
Sector: HealthTech

Leigh Kelson, a veteran tech entrepreneur, was re‑energised to launch a new venture after participating in the Tokenizer program at the Peregian Digital Hub on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

Drawing on decades of experience and inspired by the rapid advancement of AI, he identified a critical gap in the allied health sector: fragmented communication between clinicians, patients, insurers, and funding bodies such as WorkCover and the NDIS.

This lack of shared visibility created widespread inefficiencies, with clinicians burdened by administrative tasks, patients struggling with adherence, and funders lacking clear outcome data.

In response, Leigh founded Zone Blue Pty Ltd, developing Kitt AI, a health platform designed to bridge these divides.

Kitt AI is built on two interconnected products:

  • Kitt Clinician, which streamlines clinical workflows by recording consultations and automatically generating notes, referral letters, treatment plans, and exercise prescriptions, reducing administration from over 30 minutes to under a minute.
  • Kitt Companion, a patient-facing app that delivers tailored treatment plans, tracks progress, and supports adherence between appointments.

What sets Kitt apart is the seamless flow of information between the two platforms. Clinicians gain real-time insight into patient progress, while patients remain engaged and accountable outside the clinic. This closed feedback loop also introduces something long missing from the system: meaningful outcome data for insurers and funders.

Since inception, Kitt AI has rapidly progressed from concept to commercial rollout. Participation in the Tokenizer program accelerated product development from a simple letter-generation tool into a comprehensive clinical documentation and patient engagement platform.

The company has secured $500,000 in seed funding and is currently progressing a $3 million capital raise.

Kitt is integrating into established practice management systems, is Medicare‑compliant, and has formed strategic partnerships with wearable technology providers to incorporate health data. It is also piloting preventative health initiatives with a major insurer and rolling out across premium allied health clinics in Brisbane.

“The Tokenizer programs at the Peregian Hub have reignited my entrepreneurial appetite.”

Co-founder: Ian Thompson
Business: The Education Future Foundation
Sector: EdTech

The Education Futures Foundation prepares young people to be the ethical leaders of the future, ready to take on the greatest challenges facing humanity through policy and strategic advice, professional development and curriculum support and design.

With a growing focus on artificial intelligence, the Foundation is exploring how AI can be harnessed responsibly to enhance learning and equip students for a rapidly evolving world across education, business and startup ecosystems.

As part of this work, co-founder Ian Thomson set out to better understand the fast-moving AI landscape and how young people are already using it in their learning and everyday lives. With a limited technical background, his goal was simple: learn by building. Through the Peregian Digital Hub’s Tokenizer program, Code from the Beach community, and Vibe Camp initiative, Ian gained practical skills, insight and confidence in a highly supportive environment, transforming curiosity into capability and laying the groundwork for real-world AI solutions.

“By attending the Tokenizer sessions, I gained a solid knowledge of how AI worked and how it could be used for good with students, providing a great foundation for Vibe Camp, which was a truly transformative experience. It was so beneficial that I was able to spin up a rough prototype we are looking to launch into market this year.”

Ian Thomson, Co-founder, Education Futures Foundation

The Education Futures Foundation’s journey shows how building AI capability can directly enhance teaching and learning. By equipping educators with practical tools and confidence to experiment, the Foundation is translating emerging technology into meaningful classroom outcomes. This ensures students are not only prepared for an AI-enabled world, but are empowered to use these tools ethically, creatively and with purpose as future leaders.

Reimagining Recruitment with AI: How NextPlay AI Is Streamlining Talent Workflows

Co-Founder: Kris Owens
Business: NextPlay Ai
Sector: HR Tech – Recruitment

NextPlay AI is redefining recruitment by embedding artificial intelligence into a traditionally people-driven industry. Built as a nimble, services-led business, the company focuses on stripping back inefficiencies in recruitment processes and replacing them with smarter, faster, AI-enabled solutions that improve outcomes for both clients and candidates.

At its core, NextPlay AI is an AI-powered talent intelligence and workflow platform, enabling faster, data-driven hiring across executive search, permanent recruitment and large-scale team builds. The founding team brings deep expertise across technology recruitment, startup leadership and product development.

With over a decade of experience in tech recruitment, combined with proven success in scaling and exiting businesses, co-founders Greg Freeman, James Jennings and Kris Owens identified a clear opportunity to integrate AI into recruitment workflows. Their approach has been highly iterative, continuously testing, learning and refining solutions to stay at the forefront of a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Engagement with the Peregian Digital Hub, particularly through the Tokenizer program, Code from the Beach and Vibe Camp, has been a key enabler in this journey. These initiatives provided access to practical tools, expert mentors and collaborative learning environments that accelerated the team’s understanding and application of AI.

“The Tokenizer program provided practical tools, industry experts, mentors, coding bootcamps and Vibe Camp. It allowed us to better understand the complex and changing world of AI and how it can be applied in real-world contexts.”

Kris Owens, Co-founder, NextPlay AI

This has translated into strong business outcomes. NextPlay AI has successfully developed and launched a SaaS product now used daily, built advanced capabilities using large language models and proprietary data environments, and hired its first AI engineer from Canva, strengthening its technical capability. The business recently achieved its strongest month to date across revenue, performance and pipeline.

As a growing AI-enabled startup, NextPlay AI demonstrates how regional innovation ecosystems can enable founders like Owens and his team to move from concept to commercialisation, creating jobs and delivering meaningful impact in the future of work.
